Fishing with Dad at Needlecreek Reservoir

Dad came up to Gunnison on Friday night and then on Saturday morning we decided to drive to Needlecreek Reservoir. The reservoir opened up on Thursday so we were excited about fishing the lake. When we got to the lake, I took this photo of Dad.

I started fishing along the South-east edge of the lake to my usual fishing spot and I took a photo of a guy floating by and fishing. I was skunked at this spot so I decided to walk along the lake to my second fishing spot on the lake. Here is a photo of part of the path through these aspen trees.

I caught two fish at my usual spot while one fish got away. I kept both fish and I also took this photo of a butterfly that was keeping me company.

As the afternoon continued, I walked to a different spot further down the lake and took this final photo.

I caught a small trout that I released back to the lake. Dad and I drove back and cooked a nice trout dinner. Sunday morning we went to a local pond and quickly caught our limit. I was fishing catch-and-release with a panther-martin and then Dad and I went for breakfast. I had a great weekend with my father and started the summer fishing season with a great success.
